MILFORD – An educational program sponsored by the Pike County Branch of Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) on March 12 has been approved for 4.5 hours of Continuing Forestry Education (CFE) credits. A form will be available at the Short Course.

Speakers will focus on managing white-tailed deer in residential communities, culling, habitat relationships at the landscape level, developing food plots, the future of deer in Pennsylvania, hunting and the quality deer management philosophy.

Speakers are Dr. Gary Alt, wildlife biologist retired from the PA Game Commission; Bryon Shissler, independent consultant and wildlife biologist; Neil Dougherty of North Country Whitetails; and Kip Adams, wildlife biologist and northeast regional director of QDMA.

Representatives from the Lake Naomi Club in Pocono Pines, a large-scale residential development, will review a deer herd culling operation they conducted in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

This informative and educational event will be held Saturday, March 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dingman Township firehouse located at 680 Log Tavern Rd., Milford, near the intersection of Log Tavern Rd. and Route 739.

The attendance fee is $15 per person and includes lunch. The capacity is 225 on a first come-first served basis.

A sportsmen silent auction, raffles, and cash prizes will take place throughout the event.

To register, send your name, address, phone number, email address, and check or money order for $15 for each individual attending to: Pike County QDMA, P.O. Box 1147, Milford, PA 18337.
