FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DMAP Landowner Workshop

MILFORD – The registration deadline to attend a free Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) Landowner Workshop is May 12.

The purpose of two workshops to be held in Pike County is to introduce the Pennsylvania Game Commission's (PGC) DMAP program to private landowners; show how to apply for DMAP permits, and explore strategies for effectively managing deer.

One workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Grey Towers National Historic Landmark in Milford.

The second workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, May 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the PPL Environmental Learning Center at Tafton on Lake Wallenpaupack.

The PGC deadline to submit DMAP permit applications is July 1.

Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources (DCNR) service forester Tim Carr will give a presentation about putting DMAP into practice on private lands.

Milford Experimental Forest director Peter Pinchot will give a presentation on managing overabundant deer and the forest.

These workshops are sponsored by the Pike County Branch of the Quality Deer Management Association, Penn State Cooperative Extension, and DCNR.

To register, call the Pike County Cooperative Extension office at 570-296-3400.
