QDMA Seminars Approved for CFE Credits

BEAVER SPRINGS – An educational program sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Chapter of the Quality Deer Management Association (PA QDMA) on July 16 has been approved for 6.5 hours of Continuing Forestry Education (CFE) credits by the Society of American Foresters. A form will be available at the event.

Speakers will focus on whitetail deer genetics, research results, aging, behavior, infrared census, management, habitat, developing food plots and equipment demonstrations.

The informative and educational seminars are free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, at the Beaver Springs fairgrounds on Route 522.

Speakers include QDMA Executive Director and Wildlife Biologist Brian Murphy, QDMA Northeast Regional Director and Wildlife Biologist Kip Adams, QDMA PA Chapter President Steve Trupe, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Bureau of Forestry Wildlife Specialist J. Merlin Benner, and Dr. Christopher Rosenberry from the PA Game Commission.

BEAVER SPRINGS – Results of whitetail deer research, discussion about quality wildlife habitat, and equipment demonstrations relating to developing food plots are the focus of a one-day free event sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Chapter of the Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA). The educational seminars are free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, at the Beaver Springs fairgrounds on Route 522.

"Where did the Deer go in 2004?" This panel question and answer session will be conducted by QDMA Executive Director and Wildlife Biologist Brian Murphy, QDMA Northeast Regional Director and Wildlife Biologist Kip Adams, QDMA PA Chapter President Steve Trupe, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Bureau of Forestry Wildlife Specialist J. Merlin Benner, and Dr. Christopher Rosenberry from the PA Game Commission.

Murphy will also give a presentation on New Research in Whitetail Genetics, and Antlers Growth and Communications.

Attendees at the free educational seminars will learn how to develop food plots and see equipment demonstrations. Deer health and quality management, 3-year buck study results, and DCNR infrared deer survey census will all be reviewed. Another session teaches aging deer in the field.

QDMA Branch members statewide will have the opportunity to attend classes that focus on informative publicity, creating newsletters, website development, and instruction on banquet and fundraising activities.
